Sticky-Rice Cakes called Mochi is made of glutinous rice pounded into paste and molded into shape.
Mochi is a traditional food for the Japanese New Year and is commonly sold and eaten during that time.
Mochi is eaten to celebrate good health and long life.
We eat Mochi in a Zouni soup celebrating Japanese New Year.
There is a couple of ways to eat Mochi, such as Kinako Mochi coated with a mixture of kinako (roasted soybean flour) and sugar.
